I've been tagged by JosieCarioca to do the Casting Your Characters Tag!
Objective: Choose 3-4 OCs and cast them using real actors/comedians you think would suit the roles, based on physical appearance or personality (or both). You can use current actors or actors from the past. Afterwards, tag 5-10 people you think would enjoy casting their own OCs.
JosieCarioca did a wonderful job casting the characters in her fanfic. For the results see here: josiecarioca.deviantart.com/jo…
The challenge was a bit more problematic for me. First, none of my OCs, with the exception of one, were based on real actors. Secondly, I was hesitant because, well, I really don't like most Hollywood actors at all. In my opinion most of them are too good looking, fake and pretentious. So I did a bit of casting about and these are the ones who, more or less, came close.
Wendy
Wendy is not my oldest OC, but she is the first one whom I wrote about. As a young girl she is thin with long, loose curly brown hair and brown eyes. She is slightly gap-toothed (a genetic trait from her mother's side of the family). The last trait could easily be adjusted with cameras. I was looking for an actress who was not conventionally pretty, but nice looking and who had an air of what can best be described as "upper-class bohemian" since Wendy doesn't play by most of the rules of her class (one of the few traits that she shares with her son). I settled on the actress Phoebe Nicholls, who certainly has the right look as a young girl and mature woman:
I am rather partial to the second to last image, from the film "Persuasion" based on the Jane Austen novel of the same title. Phoebe (in red) plays Elizabeth Elliot, and I could not help thinking that the actress in the green gown resembles Wendy's sister, Winifred!
Sebastian
Sebastian, Wendy's son, is my oldest OC. He was also the easiest to cast, thanks to JosieCarioca who drew this picture of him, using Tom Hiddleston as a reference. It made sense--Sebastian is a notorious mischief maker (like Hiddleston's most famous role, Loki) and both have slender frames, narrow faces and auburn hair. The only problem is that Tom Hiddleston has blue eyes, but amber brown contacts could take care of that. I haven't written about Sebastian as a young man (yet) but young Hiddles fits the bill there as well as an adult Sebastian:
He wears suits with elegant grace and can certainly act the magnificent bastard!
Greta
Sebastian's wife, and the only character who was physically based off of a real actress. I had Greta Scacchi in mind because of her cool, blonde elegance, and decided that her name was also perfect for the character. She will probably not make an appearance in the series that I am currently writing, but in some short stories that I shared with friends she is graceful, poised and has a way of getting people to do what she wants without saying so directly. A young and older Greta:
Gus
The third of Sebastian and Greta's four children and perhaps the most rebellious. He does not look like either one of his parents, but resembles granny Wendy in looks. He has not yet developed Wendy's outgoing and confident temperament since he is at an awkward age and still trying to find his place in the world. I looked around the web and discovered that Phoebe Nicholls has a young son, Thomas Sturridge. His hair is straighter than I picture Gus', and his eyes are blue instead of brown, but he has brown hair and a thin, thoughtful face. Funny thing is that a recent photo of him in a period film is very close to my image of an older Gus (who does grow a beard). Just right!
This challenge was quite challenging but also fun! Thanks to for developing it! You can see the original is here (Warning! Very cool characters!): aymstersilver.deviantart.com/j…. I'm not going to tag anyone in particular, but if you have some time to spare try it!

Last Journal
Hello! I see that it has been some time since I have uploaded a journal (April). I've been putting off writing this one, but since I am no longer as active here as I was in the past, now seems to be the time.
I won't be uploading any more photographs or fan fictions to this site. It was fun, but real life has kept me away from the camera, and there is very little time to write fan fictions. I don't think that anyone read the last several submissions as most of my watchers have left, but they were fun to write--especially the Miseducation of Lavinia Llywnog. Two years and twenty chapters--it was certainly a project! Thanks again to :dev
Aid for Ecuador
A 7.8 level earthquake has devastated Ecuador, leaving towns in ruins and causing at least 654 deaths and over 16,000 injuries. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-ecuador-quake-idUSKCN0XK0GQ One of our own deviants, and a good friend of mine ~Veronika-Art (https://www.deviantart.com/veronika-art) lives in Ecuador with her family. Thankfully they are all fine, but many of their friends and neighbors have suffered terrible losses. You can read about it in her journal here:
If you wish to help, here is the link that she has suggested. Every little bit helps--even a dollar or a Euro will go a long way in contributing towards fresh water, medicine and temporary shelter! I know h
Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967
Beautiful art and animation, perfectly edited in sync to John Mayer's song. The best animated music video that I have seen so far this year. Illustrations are by Virginia Mori, animated and directed by Virgilio Villoresi.
Year of the Monkey 2016
Happy New Year, everyone! I am doing the New Year feature a bit early this year, since February 8, 2016, which begins the Year of the Monkey, also ends my core membership. This will be my last feature journal, so I figured that hailing the new year would be a good idea to end it. I don't know about all of you, but 2015, the Year of the Sheep, came in like a lamb and went out like a ram, leaving a lot of us pretty bruised. Let's hope that this year is better!
